Reflection!

When you stand infront of a mirror you see a reflection of yourself, it is exactly who we are, the mirror doesn’t lie (though sometimes we would like it to). Like the snow-white movie, we normally be like “mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all,” and since the mirror can’t answer us back like in the movie, we be like, “you are the fairest of them all.”  Most people have spent countless hours on the mirror, looking at the shapes of their bodies, thinking they need to loose weight/fat in most parts of our bodies, because they want to look perfect when they look at themselves in the mirror. Others will use different face creams trying to remove blemishes, pimples and or acne from their faces, they would use a product for like one day and think that their faces have become smooth like a baby bum. Yes our faces are what people will see as the first thing when they look at us before they would look at the rest of our bodies. Like me, I have very chubby cheeks and so when most people look at me, they think am a fat woman, but am not, its just my cheeks that deceive them.

When a child is born, you cannot tell immediately who they look like, whether its the father or mother (though sometimes we start saying “you’ve got your daddy’s eyes). The child keeps changing everyday, they might look like you a year ago, then the next year they look like the other parent, its like they keep camouflaging. Do you look like your parents? do your children look like you? Truth is we all reflect a parent in one way or the other, it could be looks or even behaviours, I have personally seen some behaviours I had when I was young in my children, and so I don’t get very shocked when they do crazy stuff! However, we all came from our Father in Heaven, He is the one who created us all in His own image, in the image of God He created them, male and female He created them. Therefore, If we reflect the image of God, does He look at us and smile? or does He look at us and get annoyed by the things that we do and what we have become? In as much as we were made in His image, does our own image (what we’ve become) reflect on that of God? I know there are some things I have done in the past which I wasn’t proud of and if I wasn’t proud of them, that means God wasn’t happy either with my actions.

Its a tough world out there and we keep making mistakes, the difference between either of us, is that, once you realise your mistakes, you dust yourself up and keep moving forward. You shouldn’t make a pity party out of everything that you do, and if you do this, you will never grow, you will never learn! There’s no manual that we were given when we were born and asked to follow it, but there is the Book of Life which is the guide to our everyday lives and that is the Bible, it is the word of God. Michael W. Smith sang the song “ancient words, every true, changing me and changing you,” meaning even if the words of the Bible are ancient, they are true, they are alive, to change you and me to become a better person in this journey called life!

When you look at yourself in the mirror, you might be the most beautiful woman or handsome man on the face of the earth, but is the inside as beautiful as the outside? or the inside is full of wickedness and evil? I personally believe that inside beauty is way more important than outside beauty, because God looks inside our hearts and if all He sees is wickedness, then woe unto us! My prayer today is that I may become a reflection of what God wants me to be, that when He looks at me, He will smile, because He sees His child, growing up spiritually and following His commands! May this be the same prayer you make, that God will see Himself in us, that we shall become more and more like Him, and when He comes back for us, He shall say us “well done, good and faithful servant.” Revelation 22:12 “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.”

Revelation 22:7 “Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book.” May our Lord find us ready, like a bride waiting for her groom, let us be ready for Him.

Blessings!!
