Heaven….

Our world is covered with beauty, natural beauty. The oceans, seas, lakes and rivers fill our land, the mountains and hills adorn our earth and the forests cover the better part of our vegetation. Whenever you stand from any part of the world and look above, you will see the skies, clouds, moon and stars. There is however a place that we cannot see with our natural eyes, but we know it exists and that is the Heavens. Heaven is where the Throne of God is and where He reigns supreme, worshiped by all creation.

John describes to us what he saw in Revelation 4:2-6 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in Heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of Jasper and Carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and pears of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the centre, around the throne, were four living creatures and they were covered with eyes, in front and behind.

Verse 8 “Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and it to come” Verse 11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created  and have their being.”

My sons asked me the other day, “mum when we go to heaven will we have wings, will we have a different body?” I tell you, sometimes they ask the weirdest of questions, I know they are curious to know about everything, and so I replied “yes when we go to heaven our bodies will change from mortal to immortal, we won’t be sick anymore, or feel any pain.” And because kids will always be kids, they go on to say that Heaven must be the coolest place, and that they will be flying with their wings when they get to heaven. As I was having this conversation with them, I started thinking about how beautiful heaven is, the streets of gold, how many angels are there? they must be countless, the peace that is in heaven, the joyous singing from the angels that fills up the heavens, and the final destination for believers and children of God, to be with the Lord and worship Him in His Temple day and night! Mercy Me sang ‘I can only imagine’

I can only imagine, what it will be like,
when I walk, by your side,
I can only imagine, what my eyes will see,
when your face, is before me,
I can only imagine, I can only imagine,
                                         Surrounded by your glory,
what will my heart feel, will I dance for you Jesus,
or in awe of you be still, will I stand in your presence,
to my knees will I fall, will I sing hallelujah,
will I be able to speak at all, I can only imagine…..
I can only imagine, when that day comes,
when I find myself, standing in the son,
I can only imagine, when all I will do,
                                     is forever, forever worship you,

I can only imagine…..

Some people have gone to Heaven and come back, giving stories of how beautiful it is. We can only imagine what we will feel and do when we finally meet our Saviour, but one thing is for sure, Heaven is the place to be! and as my son puts it, “Heaven is the coolest place to be”
