The story about Jesus is one that has been told from time memorial, from generations to generations, but one thing is that its always interesting, always captivating. I think the most watched movie of all time is ‘Jesus of Nazareth,’ I have personally watched it I think over 100 times, and every time I always find myself crying. The story is simply, in my opinion, the greatest story of all time, and the best part is that this is something that actually happened. Our Lord came into our earth, walked among the locals of those times, He was and is the greatest man that ever walked on this earth. The most Honourable, admirable, knowledgeable, His characteristics are beyond explanations.
Jesus had 12 disciples, taught the word of God everywhere He went and performed many miracles. He Healed the sick, made the blind see, raised the dead back to life, healed the oppressed and tormented by spirits and demons. He calmed the Sea, walked on water, fed the 5000 with just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish (multiplication), He turned water into wine. He was a man who never judged, spoke with great authority, a man who ate and drank with tax collectors and people who were perceived to be outcasts. He knew one of His disciples would betray Him, yet another would deny Him, so that the scriptures would be fulfilled. Just before He was betrayed, He went to pray on the mount of Olives, and the Bible states that His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground, see Luke 22:44. Who on earth would sweat droplets of blood? only Jesus! He was beaten, wore a crown of thorns, carried a heavy cross, stripped naked, crucified, pierced on His side, bled until all that came out was water, then He died. On the third day, HE Rose again from the dead, appeared to His disciples, performs another miracle at the sea of Tiberias, He reinstates Peter by asking Him if he loved Him 3 times (He did this because Peter denied him 3 times) and finally He is taken up to Heaven in full view of HIs disciples.
I was having a conversation with a friend the other day and He said to me, “What we know about what happened to Jesus is still very shallow, and if we knew all that happened to Him in more details, everyone would get saved.” Yes we have read the scriptures, yes we know He was beaten and tortured, now imagine He did all that, even before you were born, not even your parents were born, so that you should not die, but have everlasting life through Him. Our God thought of everything, He planned it all, the end from the beginning. Yet today, the gospel of Jesus is being preached and people aren’t even interested in it. People nowadays look at the story of Jesus like an old age legend, and don’t really pay much attention to it. Many have criticised all that has been written about Jesus did not happen, they don’t even believe in God, they believe in science and in the stars, question is this, who made the stars? who made the earth’s forces? God made it all, it was man who discovered it, like the force of gravity was discovered by Sir. Isaac Newton.
The Truth is this, no one will ever lay down their lives for us like Jesus did, no one can love us like Him. No one can forgive us of our sins and forget about our trespasses like He can. He doesn’t judge us, He is patient with us, doesn’t force Himself onto us, but lets us make the decision to follow Him, on our own, He’s just an amazing God. Question is this? Why are people refusing the light? Why do they prefer the darkness? John 3:19-21 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
