There’s a good feeling about a new month, Its like you’ve being given a clean sheet of paper to actually write out your life, your goals, plans and what you would like to achieve for the new month. A new month comes with its own expectations, and lessons from the previous month. Things that you didn’t manage to achieve are pushed right into the new month, and this usually brings in a sense of hope. That yes, yet another month has gone, I didn’t manage to achieve what I intended to, but I will not stop doing the project I had.
God gives us a clean sheet of paper every single morning. Whenever we wake up in the morning, it is a sign from God that our work on earth is not yet done. We still have some unfinished business to do, we still have a chance to make a difference in this world. However do we ever look at it like that? do we look at life as a gift from God? or do we assume that its our right to be here! or worse still we think we are better than everyone else, they deserved to die and we didn’t! Is it a chance for us to backlash people and be mean, rude and arrogant? is it a chance to hate and plot evil for other people?
Am no saint by the way, and there were times I did question God why He still kept me alive and yet I had sinned against Him. I have however come to know that its not by our works that we are alive, or kept alive by the good things or bad things that we keep doing, No! There is a stronger power that holds our lives and His name is Jesus Christ. All things were made by Him and for Him, ever wondered why you are here on this earth that is full of evil everywhere you go? Well God put you here so that you can make a difference wherever you are. You don’t need to be a pastor to change the world, you don’t need to have lots of money to make someone else smile! You just have to be kind, generous, loving and caring. I know majority will be thinking, “why should I be kind to someone who treats me like trash? why should I love someone who keeps hurting me every single day? We all can relate to this, because this is how the world is. But have you ever thought that whenever we sin we are hurting God? Just in the same way that earthly people hurt us, we hurt God by rejecting Him and His Word. The difference is that, God is full of mercy and love, and He loves us unconditionally, for Him, its not a matter of how good we have being, no! He loved us before we even loved Him or even knew Him.
God knew each and every one of us even before the foundations of the world, before any of us was formed in our mothers womb He knew our names, He knew our potential why? because He formed us with that potential, He knows what we can become. Myles Munroe once said in his book, ‘understanding your potential,’ that when God was creating the world, He spoke to things and they came into being. He spoke to the water and all sea creatures came into being, however, when God was creating man, He spoke to Himself. Genesis 1:26-27 “Let us make man in Our own image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His Own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. We are that special to God that He gave us all dominion and power over everything that He created and we are meant to take care, be fruitful and multiply.
However, the enemy keeps filling our minds with negative things that we never realize the potential that we have inside us. If only we could tap into this potential, if only we could realize what God has placed in our hearts, we would become the men and women that we were created to be. Some of us have grown into families where we have faced rejection from an early age that even as we grow up, we really don’t expect people to love us, why? because we’ve never seen any kind of love! we accept violence and rejection as normal and when someone actually loves us, we run away, that isn’t normal to us!
For God so Loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16. When Jesus was nailed to the Cross, He was nailed with sin, rejection, shame, pain, sickness everything! So that when we come to this earth, all we have to do is accept Him, accept His Love for us and live for Him. life is a gift, a precious gift from the Father up in Heaven, none of us knows the time that we have on earth, none! My first born son died when he was just 3 months old, my grandfather (dad’s side) died when he was 109 years! Its not about us, its all about Him, He holds our lives and only He knows how long we will live for. For the longest time I had battled with God on how “good I was, how I never had an abortion and yet He took my son.” It pained a lot, it still does, but God has turned my mourning into dancing. He blessed me with 2 other boys and has opened my eyes to know and see my purpose in life. You can live life, but until you know Jesus, then you haven’t started living! To know Him is to have eternal life.
Therefore everyday that you wake up, know that you still have a chance to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (if you haven’t) everyday is a chance to make someone else smile, to be a better person, to laugh and love and spread God’s love everywhere that we go. Today if God has given you the precious gift of life, live for Him!!
