Am sure you’ve read the topic and your like, ‘what is she on about?’ Leprosy also known in our times as Hansen’s disease is a infection caused by a certain bacteria (don’t want to get into the science details). People who had leprosy in the old times, were not allowed to mix with the rest as the disease was believed to be contagious. We are however seeing a brave man who knew his condition, but was brave enough to go to Jesus and ask Him to heal Him. He could have stayed in his leprous condition, since he knew he wasn’t allowed to mix with the rest, but his faith could not allow him and so he took a step of faith. The Bible says in Matthew 8:2-3 When the man with leprosy came and knelt before Jesus, he said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”
What is the one condition that you have which you don’t want other people to find out? What are you struggling with behind closed doors? This life that we live in we have struggles that we face every other day and these struggles are wearing us down. These struggles are our addictions, some of us are addicted to ponography, masturbation, your struggling with homosexuality, alcohol, drugs, prostitution, adultery, gossiping, lies and so many other things. Which of these categories is your leprosy? what is the one thing that is making you not to be whole? Jesus said to the man with leprosy “I am willing,” today Jesus is saying the same words to you “I am willing.” He is willing to break you free from any and all addictions and sickness that are wearing you down, He is willing to make you ‘clean.’
Just as the man with leprosy came and knelt before Jesus, so you will need to come to Him in total surrender with your ‘leprosy’s and He will make us whole. Jesus will never turn you down, Psalms 51:17 says “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.” When you go before Him when your broken, Jesus will not turn you down, He is willing, He will listen, He will answer and He will make you clean.
Here we see the faith that the centurion demonstrated, Jesus wanted to go to his house, but he asked Jesus to just say the word and his servant will be healed. Jesus was astonished by the level of his faith and He said to him, “Go! it will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour. From these two instances we see a similarity in the way that Jesus works. One, is that He is willing to make us clean, two is that when we have faith in Him and believe that He will do that which we expect Him to do, He will do EXACTLY that, our belief and trust in Him is what makes the healing complete. Do you believe that He will remove you from substance abuse? Are you willing and ready to let go of everything that is pulling you down? Unless we are ready to kneel before Him in total surrender, there is nothing that He can do for us. God gave us something called ‘will power’ and with that, we make the choices and decisions to accept Him and His ways or not, He can’t force Himself onto us.
