So I wake up early to see my sons off to school, they picked different times, and I have to see each of them off. After the youngest goes to school, I pick my phone and scroll through my FB timeline to see what’s up and I come across a post by a friend and He states “No one has ever given me the right to use his/her name other than Jesus – my Lord and Saviour,” and this totally blessed me.
Usually you can easily identify a person, or rather ‘a famous person,’ by their last name. Lets take the name Barrack as an example, very many people have that name, but when it ends with ‘Obama,’ then you know that its the President of United States, same with my President, Uhuru Kenyatta, President our good country Kenya. Now, if the names of mortal men have some ‘powers’ here on earth? What of the name that is above every other name? His name has power not only here on earth, but also in Heaven and hell. Philippians 2:10-11 says “That at the name of Jesus Christ, every knee should bow, in Heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess/acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father”. Jesus Christ the son of the Living God, whom we serve, has power and this same power, He has given unto us. Luke 10:19 “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
All through the Bible we are told and reassured of the Love of God for us, we are also told that He has given us power and authority in His name. This same God does not limit us on calling upon His name when we are in trouble, Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
The truth of the matter is however this, you might be the president of the most powerful nation on earth and when people see your name on a piece of paper, they obey the orders therein, because they have to obey the authority in the land. We know of people who just by their name, they have a pass to everything here on earth, they are ‘untouchable.’ What we need to be doing is looking beyond the earth, looking past our deaths, will you still have the same power and authority with your name? truth is No! We are told to rejoice that our names are written in Heaven, rejoice if your name is written in the Lambs book of life. So, Is your name written in the Book of Life? If it is, then good for you, but if its not, no matter how popular or how powerful you are here on earth, you will end up in hell, in the lake burning with fire and brimstone! That is the plain truth!
Therefore no matter what name you carry, ordinary, celebrity, royalty, all that is vanity if you don’t carry the name of the one and only true God. All is dead if Jesus is not your Lord and Saviour, so today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart, give your life to Him, so that you can start on this journey of living your life for Christ. When He comes, He will not look at your surnames, but rather He will look for His people who will have His SEAL, people who have carried His name. Dear friends carry His name, the name that is above every other name, take upon His yoke which is easy and his burden light, His name is the coolest name in all the earth, and in His name, we are saved.
