Wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. At times I read this verse and am left wondering to myself why would the writer write about God’s foolishness? what was he thinking? God ain’t foolish! But then again am reminded that all scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. In other words, the writer of 1 Corinthians 1:25 (Paul) wasn’t crazy when he wrote it down. We read again in 1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”

Have you ever done something and your left asking yourself, what did God think of that? was He proud? or did He shake His head in utter disbelief and go like, really Cynthia? Like those cartoon characters who keep banging their heads and the other is thinking how can you be so S*****! but then again, its life and there are days we make really mad moves.

However, God is supreme, He has absolutely no match whatsoever and so, whenever He allows things to happen, we go like, “well why did you allow that to happen?” forgetting that, He sees tomorrow or the next minute and we don’t! And so its usually a case of us ranting about how God didn’t do this or this, yet we don’t even have the capacity to do it ourselves. Who can be compared to God? who can be compared to His strength, wisdom, knowledge and understanding? there is absolutely none! Not in Heaven, not on earth, or even underneath the earth; no one and nothing compares to Jehovah God.

Though sometimes we like to ‘play’ God. God created you a man or a woman and you ‘think’ that your ‘trapped’ in that body and decide to change your sex. God doesn’t make mistakes! no He doesn’t, each and everyone of us was created in the image of God, we were created by Him and for Him; and so whenever you try and ‘play’ God, trying to be wiser than God, you are actually foolish! Our wisdom cannot be compared to God’s, our strength cannot be compared to His; He’s stronger than all the demons in hell combined!

Whenever we don’t consult God and in place we take over His role in our lives, we are being Foolish. We like to look at the sins of others and we be the first to judge forgetting that we are also sinners! We look at others with contempt! like the Pharisees and Sadducees of old times who only cleansed the outside, but their hearts and mind were dark. Sins of the mind, Men who look at a woman and undress her even when she is fully clothed, women who fantasise about having another man, you look at a man and your already seeing yourself with him in bed. Well you know what, even if you didn’t sleep with them, you have already committed adultery with your mind.

The Bible says that we need to guard our hearts and our minds; Paul wrote this out so well when he said in Romans 7:14-25, but I will focus on verse 15 “I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.” Doesn’t this sound like typically all of us? fighting and battling within ourselves? wanting to do good and yet bad is all that keeps coming out? From one man, sin came, however by the grace of God, through one man, salvation came in the form of Jesus Christ. Therefore we all need to come to Jesus and feed our hearts and minds with the things of God, which will starve the flesh, and the Spirit of God will rule our hearts. However, if we feed the flesh, then we will be starving the Spirit of God and sin will master us.

There are many things that I have done that I am not proud of, so is everyone else, and so everyday its been a journey to my soul, finding God, which leads me to finding myself; I believe that each and everyone of us needs to purpose that in life, to seek God every single day of our lives. Remembering that we are weak on our own, but in Christ we are strong, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness. God doesn’t want people who show Him that they can do it on their own, but rather He needs us to be humble and come to Him, completely laying down all our earthly crowns, that He may take charge, for He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Blessings!!
