I was taking a stroll in my rural home town and I came across this coffee plantation that had only one red ripe fruit while the others were still green. I honestly think this is how we look to the world when we give our lives to Jesus Christ, we look different, because we don’t do what the rest are doing, question is this, is different good? or is it bad? It actually depends on how you look at it, to me being different means you are unique, you have something that everyone else doest have, you are special, though sometimes, people may look at you as though you are abnormal and discriminate. As a Christian, we are different because we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, 1Peter 2:9 puts it very well, But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. When God calls us, He expects us to be different because He is different. His ways aren’t like the ways of the world, and so He does everything differently, therefore, we who have been called by God should not be afraid of being different from everyone else, but rather, we should embrace the difference within us and spread it out so that everyone else can have an experience of what we have. We should sing His Praises and declare His Goodness!
If we become the same as the rest, how will the world know about Jesus? How will we spread the love of our Father in Heaven? Jesus is the Light of this world, He saved us from the darkness into His Marvellous Light, that means that we cannot be the same, we have to be different. When you know the truth, then it shall set you free, but when you know the truth and withhold it inside, how will the rest benefit? Have you ever seen people who when they become successful, don’t want the rest to succeed, infact, they would just like them to stay where they are, so that they can always be on top and the rest at the bottom. Secret to success is in numbers, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, doesn’t run the whole organisation on his own, its impossible! same to Bill Gates of Microsoft, no successful human being has ever made it on their own. When we don’t share the Word of God, we are like the business people who don’t want everyone else to succeed. Share the Word, and leave the rest to God, the work of the Holy Spirit is to convict and make people sorry for their sins, not us! If we don’t, we will have blood on our hands, but if we do, then we will be free.
Stand out from the crowd, let the light of God shine in you that all may see you as a different person ever since Christ came into your life. Do not suppress the Word of God, do not keep it to yourself, let everyone around you experience the same. Dare to be different! dare to be the best!
