Before a wedding takes place, there is usually a lot of planning that goes into place and in our african culture, the man first has to pay bride price, and both families have to meet well in advance to know each other. After the bride price is paid and the parents have given their blessings, then the couple start on a journey to plan their wedding, the man looks for his grooms men while the lady looks for her brides maids. The venue, clothes (suit & gown), food, transportation, tents, flowers are things that the couple put into consideration as they plan their wedding. When everything is all set, and the day of the wedding is here, the bride will walk down the aisle with her wedding gown, covered with a veil and when she gets to her husband to be, he is the only one that unveils her first to see her face, to see the woman of his dreams. No one else is given the honours of unveiling the bride except her husband and this honour has been bestowed upon him.
We are all planning our weddings as we walk in this journey called life and the wedding day is fast approaching, when the groom (Christ) will come for His bride (Church). When we get to the end of our journey, and the wedding day has arrived, our bodies will be unveiled from mortal, to immortal by our one and only Saviour Jesus Christ. He is the one who will unveil us, do you think your ready to be unveiled before the Lord? and if He unveils you now, will He like what He sees?are you being transformed into His likeness? Yes we are all humans and our bodies are ever making us sin, but as we walk on this journey, we are ever growing, we are ever learning, when you realise you’ve committed sin, repent for our God is a Just God, and He will forgive you. Don’t allow yourself to be entangled with the pleasures of this world and forget your purpose. God has given us the power to overcome all the works and fiery darts that the enemy throws at us. We are more than conquerers, because Jesus conquered everything for us at the cross, all we ever have to do is receive Him and receive life everlasting.
May we strive everyday to become more like our Lord, may we strive everyday to want to know Him more, who to know is life eternal, may we strive everyday to want to please Him and not the world. Remembering that all will pass away, but HIS Words, will remain forever, I don’t know about you, but I like to associate myself with people who will stand with me no matter what, people who will take me to the next level, people who will be there for me when I need them and truth be told, Jesus is my main Man! He is my solid rock upon which I stand. He holds me together even when everything around me seems to be falling apart, Jesus keeps me sane! If He does it for me, He will do it for you, so today if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart, receive Him, it will be the best decision that you ever made……
2Corinthians 3:17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Like a bride waiting for her groom, may we be a church ready for Christ!
