Am no lawyer, but I have read out sections of our constitution and I know what it says, I say ‘sections’ because quite frankly I haven’t read each and every chapter, however, as the saying goes; ignorance is no defense whatsoever. Following the recent elections in my country and the upcoming repeat presidential elections, I have seen big shot lawyers quoting sections of the constitution to make statements, but on the flip side of it also, you find other lawyers use the same sections of the constitution to discredit what the other person said. To the layman, most of us are sitting here drinking our hot coco, wondering who’s telling the truth and who’s lying? With sections of the law we uphold the constitution and the law to fit our own personal interests, yet with the same law, we discredit yet another section, still for our own personal interests. That’s when you realize that these politicians are fighting for their own personal interests, and the rest of us are caught up in limbo, not knowing what to do. I know your thinking, “not another political post,” no! this isn’t another political post, stay with me, am heading somewhere with this.
What is the definition of Law? the english dictionary puts it as, the system of rules that a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and may enforce by the imposition of penalties. In my own simple english, laws are rules that govern people in a country. Some would think that laws are things that were introduced after civilization, but no! we have being having laws even from creation. When God created Adam and Eve He gave them rules to govern them in the garden of Eden, but what did they do? they disobeyed God and because of their disobedience, hard work, pain in child bearing came in. Same case with the children of Israel, after God delivered them from the Egyptians, He led them to Mt. Sinai whereby He gave Moses the 10 commandments to give to the children of Israel. These commandments were supposed to govern them as they were their laws, but what did they do? they disobeyed they rebelled one too many times and they too got punished.
To be honest when I read the Old Testament, I just tell God thanks that He put me here on earth at the time that He did and not back then. His ways are just perfect, not just when they benefit us personally, but He’s a perfect God never making any mistake!
When God told Moses to make the Tabernacle, He gave him measurements of how everything was supposed to be made, and the craftsmen put attention to detail and made the Tabernacle. Back then, only the appointed priest was allowed to make sacrifices for the people and pray on their behalf. However, God wanted to have a personal relationship with us and so Jesus died on the cross. At the Cross Jesus said, “It is finished” and the veil in the temple cut into two, what did this mean? It meant that the system of the law was finished and now all people can enter freely into the presence of God. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for all of us, He shed His own blood that me and you can draw near to God, isn’t this the greatest love shown to mankind?
Romans 10:4 the NIV version tells us that “Christ is the culmination (highest point) of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes,” Geneva commentary study Bible puts the commentary of this verse very well, The proof: the law itself points to Christ, that those who believe in Him should be saved. Therefore the calling to salvation by the works of the law, is vain and foolish; but Christ is offered for salvation to every believer. The end of the law is to justify those that keep the law: but seeing that we do not observe the law through the fault of our flesh, we do not attain this end: but Christ heals this disease, for he fulfills the law for us.

So where am I going with this? am perplexed by people who only believe in the law of their countries it’s constitution and even science, but don’t believe in Jesus Christ and in His saving power and grace, to them He’s just a myth. Religion, salvation, the HolySpirit, Heaven and Hell is all fake according to them. Well they are wrong! Before anything else was in existence, God was there, Isaiah shows us this very well in 46:10 “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.” Isn’t this profound? that God has already seen the end from the beginning. When God created the universe and all that there is within it, He also knew how it will end, because He is all knowing and all powerful and nothing ever gets Him by surprise. When God made man and put Him in the garden of Eden together with Eve, everything was perfect! So the devil thought that once he made man disobey and go against God’s will, he had completely destroyed God’s plan for mankind. What he didn’t know was that, God already had a plan, a backup plan for that matter that the devil hadn’t anticipated.
The same goes for us, God knows our potential because He’s the one who created us, He created us for a purpose, His purpose, however, the devil doesn’t want any of us to reach or maximize our potential, so what does he do? he floods our minds with things that don’t matter, and we live our lives like there’s no tomorrow, partying till we drop, valuing material things instead of people, however, when all is said and done, and we sit down and reflect, we realize that, the things which we thought were fun and important were actually not and we are accountable for our choices. You see this life that we live is temporary, and eternity awaits us, it will either be in Heaven or in hell. If we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and live for Him, then eternity in Heaven awaits us, however if we deny Him here on earth, then most definitely eternity in hell awaits you.
Ever imagined, If only we could see what God see’s in us for just one minute? If God allowed us to see what He see’s in us, what we are capable of, can you imagine where you would be and what you will be able to do? the lives that you would touch or even transform just by knowing your potential? However, we don’t have this luxury of seeing into our futures, but we have something greater, we have Jesus Christ who is our hope and salvation. He is asking us to put our hand in His hand and allow Him to walk us through this life. He is asking us to have faith in Him, He is asking us to live life through His lenses.
I was listening to T.D. Jakes preaching the other day and his sermon was, “nothing just happens.” and I thought about it, nothing in our lives just happens, everything that has happened, it is God who has allowed it to happen. Then someone would ask, what of my failures?all our failures, all our pain, has led us to our success. How can we know that God is our provider if we never lack? how can we know that he saves if we have never gotten into trouble? After all Paul says in 2Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
