Samson was a strong man who fought for the Israelites and defended them against their enemies the Philistines. I mean the guy caught 300 foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs, who does that? Imagine the strength that Samson had? Obviously the Philistines were annoyed with him, how can 1 man cause such destruction to a whole nation? They wanted revenge and they wanted to serve it cold! Samson didn’t marry an Israelite, instead he married a Philistine woman who’s name was Delilah. Delilah was approached by the rulers of the Philistines to lure Samson into showing her the secret of his great strength and for that she would get paid handsomely. Three times Samson lied to her, but the 4th time, after much pressure from his wife, he told her the truth, his secret was in his hair, in which no razor had ever being used on his head, Samson had being set apart for God, a Nazirite.
Delilah knew what she wanted, which was the money she had being offered, while he slept on her lap, she called a man to shave off the seven braids on his hair and his strength left him. When he woke up, he didn’t know that his strength had left him, he didn’t know that the Lord had left him. He was weak, they gorged out his eyes and took him to prison. The enemy lures us into traps just the same way that Samson was lured by Delilah. He makes us think we are secure and safe, stroking our backs as we sleep exactly where he wants us to be. When we get completely comfortable, he cuts our hair exposing our weakness and we go to prison. Not a real prison, but our very own prison of self pity, self condemnation, guilt, depression then finally committing suicide.
Every time I read the story of Samson, I always see how gullible we are and how the enemy has used traps all around us to make us fall. He always finds our weakness, to bring us down, never has he focused on our strength. Have you ever had that one person in your life who always makes you get into trouble? and I mean always! but the funny thing is that we can’t seem to let go of them, why does that happen? i call it Fear! Most of the times we are so afraid of loosing our friends and so we continue doing things we don’t like for the reason of maintaining friendships! Not realizing that these friends are slowly and slowly luring us into traps and addictions and before we know it, we are in too deep! Is there hope? off course there is! I mean the Philistines knew that they were done with Samson once and forever, but goes what, Samson’s hair grew again.
When Samson was taken to prison, he was set to grinding grain, he worked hard every single day and build his muscle. However, another thing was happening, his hair started growing again. You see when we fall, the devil usually thinks that we are done and dusted! and that we will stay down, however, do not be dismayed, do not think that its the end of the world! your hair will grow again, pick up yourself, build your strength, the same God that was with Samuel, is the same God that we serve and He will bring you out of the pit, and when you come out, you shall be stronger and wiser.

The Philistines weren’t done with Samson, they wanted to mock him and showcase him in front of everyone, for the whole nation to see that the mighty warrior of Israel had being subdued. They set him among the pillars, but Samson prayed to the Lord His God to give him strength one last time and seek revenge on the Philistines. Then he pushed the pillars with all his strength and might and the temple came tumbling down killing everyone in it. Just like Samson prayed to God to give him strength, to destroy his enemies, let that be the same prayer that we pray. That God will strengthen us and help us to make the walls and pillars of our weakness to come tumbling down and die, so that we may emerge victorious.
Don’t wallow or drown yourself into pity party, yes you made a mistake, its not the end for your yet. You will rise again, even in the pit, pull yourself together, realize your mistakes and work towards strengthening your inner self, work hard and when your hair has started growing, ask the Lord who gives us strength to set our hands upon the pillars of our weakness and give us strength to overcome them.
No one is perfect! no one and that is why God knew that the lineage of Jesus would be from King David. Was David perfect? no he wasn’t, but the Bible clearly states that David was a man after God’s own heart! A man of imperfections yes, but a man who was remorseful about his wrongs and LOVED God. What of us? do we love God so much that we cannot stay away from His presence? or is our love weak that we care less even if His presence is not with us? Will we be like Moses who said, “if your presence doesn’t go with me, then I am not leaving this place?” or will we not be bothered let alone notice that His presence has left us?
I don’t know about you but as for me, I long for His presence, I long to be in His realm and in His domain.
Even in the pit, your hair will grow again!!
Blessings….

Many times we always look at the weakness and what we have done and we forget we ain’t perfect.. May times, I get so scared of how God will see me and I tend to judge myself over what is a total mess.. Thanks ma.. For reminding me.. My hair can still grow..
