If you threw a piece of stone at another stone, would it get hurt? No it wouldn’t! But if you threw a stone at a human being, they would definitely get hurt!
It’s an election year in my country and to be honest I am so tired from all the negativity that is going around! Every single day its all negative things that are being spoken, every single day each camp is looking for ways they can mud slide their opponent and the worst part of it all, is that we all purport to be christians. Do we even know the meaning of being a christian? To be a christian means that we represent Christ and its at these times that I ask myself, am I representing Christ with my words? am I kind to my neighbor? or will I say words that will hurt them now and beyond? You see words are things that once they come out of our mouths, we really can’t take them back, why? Luke 6:45 “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart, his mouth speaks.” Yes we might apologize, but our words might have left a scar in someone else’s heart, causing damage.
Why then are we so careless with our words? Why are we so intolerable with each other when it comes to elections? yet over the next four years, we live together in harmony? why do we agree to be divided among tribal lines, and we know very well that its all about elections? What happens after elections? are we happy that after every election there has to be a peace and reconciliation commission trying to bring people back together? for how long will this be? when does it stop, if it doesn’t stop with you and me? I want to raise my children in a country that is free from TRIBALISM! I want to raise my children in a country that cares about its people! Some people say am dreaming, but this can be a reality if all of us can have a shift of thinking in our minds.
Kenya is a country that is made up of 70% Christians, which means, that if we as christians would rise up and shun tribalism, then we shall be showing an example to the upcoming future generations, and they too will follow suit. In the same way, if Christians would rise and pray for this country, refuse to be party lined, but be Christ lined then change will come. As it is written, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land” 2Chronicles 7:14

What is that toxic behavior which you have in your life that has become a habit? and you know what they say about habits, they become a disease! Rev. Oscar Amisi, always reminds us, that “garbage in, garbage out” whatever we feed ourselves with, is what will eventually come out!! Romans 10:17 says that “Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God,” and in the same way, if we keep filling our minds with negativity, then all that we will have is negativity!! I pray that we shall have a shift in our thinking, a shift in our attitudes, remembering that we are Christians first, then Kenyans second, and if this country burns, then we all burn with it! You will not be spared just because your ‘tribe’ won the elections, no!
Hebrews 12:14 “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. “Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life” Proverbs 4:23 and finally remembering that “with the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fit tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.” James 3:9-12
This life we live in, we are only here but for a short while, question is; will you spread lies or will you spread the truth? will you spread love or will you spread hate? We all have choices to make, and these choices have consequences! Choose Jesus and spread His love everywhere you go!
This is very nice Cynthia.Asante sana.Much blessings to you.

Glad you have being blessed. We need to speak up about these things and shed light, remembering that Christ put us here to be His ambassadors.
