Now you see me…Now you don’t

Last week I witnessed the Local Council roughen up some small scale traders who were selling in the streets. I was crossing the road and in what seemed to be in the twinkling of an eye, now I see you, now I don’t, everyone was running around helter skelter and for one minute, there was total confusion. After it all happened, we could all see the aftermath, tomatoes, onions all over the place; some vendors were arrested while some managed to run away. Those who had managed to run away weren’t lucky to have salvaged their goods, the local council had taken it all.

As I walked passed all this I asked myself, the local council governs the city and so it means they keep watch of everything happening around. They know that the small scale traders aren’t supposed to sell in the streets, but still, they allow them to do it! They let the traders sell their goods, then! voila…. they come in like a flood when no one least expects them and take all that they can. Why allow them in the first place, if you will later on arrest them? time and chance. Personally, I tend to think that the local council in my country acts up just like the devil, the devil you might ask? yes the devil! To be honest we all know how the enemy works until now, he lets you have your cake and while you are about to eat it all, he comes in and takes it all. The Bible describes him very well in 1Peter 5:8 “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Ever wondered why someone can steal for such a long time and never get caught? its the devil who keeps lying to us that we are invincible! no body can touch us, so we get comfortable in our sins, and we relax! then alas! when we least expect it! we are exposed, we are arrested, or worse still, we die in our sins. There was no time to repent, there was no time to say sorry, everything happened so fast and now your no more! The next time you will wake up will be on the day of judgment, and on that day, you won’t have any chance to repent, it will be too late. Question I ask and keep asking is, why wait? why live your life like there is no judgment day coming? why live in sin, when you can live life in Christ and live a very fulfilling life? Who said Christianity is boring? Who said Christianity can’t be fun?

Jesus reminds us in John 10:10 “the thief comes only to steal, and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. What does this mean? It means when your not in Christ, you are an easy target to the devil. His work is to steal and harass (just like the local council) which will in turn leave you in depression, some will commit suicide, while some will drown themselves in alcohol and drugs, while still others will go into prostitution, prostituting their bodies because they really don’t have much going on for them. Eventually, they are where the enemy wants them to be, and when they least expect it, they are destroyed! It doesn’t have to be like this, no it doesn’t! You can live your life and live it to the fullest in Christ Jesus.

You don’t have to drown and die in sin, no! come to Jesus, confess your sins to Him, He will forgive you and wash you  in His precious blood that was shed at Calvary. He died for all of us that we may have life, and have it more abundantly. Take the bold step and confess with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved. Romans 10:9
