Darling…

Who is your darling? Would you sacrifice your darling?

Yesterday I was listening to some old school worship gospel music! Hehehe, well there isn’t really old school worship music is there? worship music doesn’t really matter if its old or not, worship music brings us into the presence of the almighty and nothing can ever beat that! To exalt the name of the one and only true God, that is an amazing feeling that is indescribable!! Anyways, so I am listening to “worthy is the Lamb” by Hillsong Australia and one of the lines goes like, “the darling of Heaven, crucified, worthy is the Lamb.” I immediately looked up the meaning of the word darling in the english dictionary, not that I didn’t know the meaning, but I wanted to see if there’s a deeper meaning to it. The word Darling can be used as a noun or as an adjective! As a noun it is used as an affectionate form of a beloved person, ‘goodnight, my darling’ and as an adjective, ‘his darling wife.’ Well, am not here to teach english, or adjectives,  but I love the fact that the word ‘darling’ can also be used and or described as ‘beloved.’

We all have our darlings, people who are so dear to us that if they would die, it would break our hearts into two. Who is this special person in your life? Is it your husband or wife? your father or mother? your children? your siblings or even your best friend? Well, there are people in our lives that bring joy and laughter, there is something about them that just ticks! whenever they are around you, there is a warmth that they bring and the truth is, they are irreplaceable! Well imagine this, Jesus was and still is the darling of Heaven, the  Beloved one of God and guess what? that beloved person was sent on this earth to be crucified and die, so that me and you can live forever more. He died that my sins and yours will be completely forgiven! He died that we can now go directly to the Father !

We’ve just celebrated Easter, marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, question is, was is it just another holiday for merry making? or did we reflect on what Christ did for us? Personally for me, every time I think of the ultimate sacrifice that was offered on our behalf, I am utterly speechless, lost for words! That I and all of us mean so much in the eyes of God, that He doesn’t want any of us to perish, no He doesn’t. God want’s all of us to live for Him, question is are you? or will you?

Lets flip things a little bit. Now imagine someone telling you to sacrifice your one and only son, your one and only father! would you accept? Am sure you’d think they are absurd or they’ve gone totally bonkers! But God did it! He sent Jesus all the way from Heaven to earth to die so that we may be saved, imagine that! then what do you do? reject Him! ignore Him! don’t want anything to do with Him!

Now picture this, your one and only son rejecting you, wanting to have absolutely nothing to do with you? Bone of your bones, your own flesh and blood! Well the truth is when we reject Christ, it is exactly as when your children reject you! Now shift that thinking back to God; He created us, we are made in His exact image, we are His special creation but guess what? we have rejected Him, we do not want anything to do with Him, and that breaks His heart! John 1:11 He came to His own; and His own received Him not.

This journey, this decision, no one can ever make it for you. You cannot be saved, because your parents are saved! no, you have to reach to a place whereby, just as the Bible says in 1John 1:9-10 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Say yes to Jesus, it is a decision that you will never regret!

Blessings!!
