Every time I read the story of king Jehoshaphat I am in awe of what God did. King Jehoshaphat kingdom was under attack from every corner 2 Chronicles 20:2 Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, ‘A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the sea. It is already in Hazazon Tamar.” And because Jehoshaphat was a man, he became afraid, however as much as Jehoshaphat was afraid, He knew what he needed to do, and it says in verse 3-4 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah. The people of Judah came together to seek help from the LORD; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.
I must admit there were times I faced calamities, but at that particular moment, it never came into my mind that I needed to seek God, and only when things got worse that I realised, Oh my! why am I struggling? then I would pray and things would turn around. Jehoshaphat prayed infront of the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the LORD, and when he finished praying, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah, and I love what he says, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s 2 Chronicles 20:15.

Jehoshaphat does something different, he appoints men to sing to the Lord and to praise Him for the splendor of His Holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the LORD, for HIs love endures forever.” As the began to sing praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah and they were defeated. The men of Ammon and Moab rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them, After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another 2 Chronicles 20:22-23
The power of praise, there is power in singing praises to God. When we praise Him for His goodness, praise Him for the many battles He has helped us to win, praise Him for the battles ahead. When Jesus was entering Jerusalem Triumphantly, the people sang praises to God and the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” Jesus said, “I tell you, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Luke 19:39-40

Today, it doesn’t matter what your going through, it doesn’t matter how fierce it looks, its not for you to fight! you won’t last even 2 minutes in the battle field, lay it down at the feet of Jesus and allow Him to fight for you, He is ever so ready. God doesn’t share His glory with no man, so don’t fight your battles thinking your helping God. Isaiah 42:8-9 “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.” Yes the former things have taken place in your life, (name whatever situation you went through), behold the LORD declares new things, new beginnings, how awesome is that? God doesn’t let us die in our struggles, but He delivers us!
In every situation that your expecting God for a miracle, sing praises to His wonderful name and watch Him do amazing things in your life.
