Our world is full of seasons, I remember as a child we used to sing a song that went like, “after the sun, the rain, after the rain the sun, this is the way of life, till the work be done.” Don’t know if I got the words right, its being a while since I sang that song, but such is life, such is all that we go through, there is absolutely nothing new under the sun. The same way that we are surrounded by seasons, so it is with our lives. In the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, this comes out very clearly, there is a time for everything!
That said, we have to realise that our God also operates in seasons, yes He is the same yesterday, today and forever (constant) however, He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding Daniel 2:21. I was having a conversation with my dad yesterday and he asked me, “does God cease to be God, just because your business used to do well and now its gone slow”? and I said no, “God is still God, no matter what you go through in life.” We need to know the seasons that are taking place in our lives and understand them. If you plant when others are plucking, will you get anything? We need to know when to keep silent and when to talk, because when you talk when your supposed to be silent, you might break someone with your words and words can very hurtful.
Other times, we like to hold onto things, situations and even people, yet their season in your life has already passed, what happens? You don’t go forward into your next season, you want to remain in the same place, clinging to the same people, clinging to the moment that happened, yet it has already passed, therefore we remain stagnant, we don’t grow! And we all know what happens to stagnant water that hasn’t moved in a long time, it has mosquitoes, it stinks really bad and can even bring diseases. When we do not accept to move into the next season of our lives, we become stagnant, everything and everyone around you has moved on, but your still in the same place waiting for your prince/princess charming who is long gone and married. There are other seasons that come in our lives, seasons of lack and want, seasons of disappointments but that doesn’t mean that the particular season your in will stay like that forever, no! you will move from that season and get into yet another season of rejoicing and great shall be your testimony.
When we loose our loved ones, we cry, we mourn but we still we have to move on, their season came to an end, but ours is still going on and so we keep moving forward. God is a God of order, when HE formed you in your mother’s womb, you grew from a egg to baby, then a toddler and now your an adult, this that just shows that in this life we need to grow and keep moving, if we don’t, we shall be overtaken by events.
Some opportunities in life come only once, if you don’t grab them they are gone forever, however, what you do when your given that opportunity and chance will also determine your course in life. Some people are given great opportunities, but instead of mastering what they have being given, they allow the same opportunity to master them. We need to keep a balance in everything and maintain it, If we don’t then some things in your life become just a by the way or worse still neglected. The most unfortunate part of it all, is that the most important things in life are the ones that become neglected, children, family, prayer life, and your own personal walk with God. When we don’t create a balance, then we might slowly but surely go down the depression road.
To whom much is given, much is expected Luke 12:48
Understand the season that your in, learn from it and when the time comes for you to get onto the next one, then move forward. Life is a learning process, what you knew yesterday, isn’t what you will know today or the day after. Cherish your moments, learn to put a balance in every area of your life, but above everything else, put God first and let Him lead you.
