Addition vs. Submission

Am watching this movie called ‘A matter of Faith,’ a 2014 movie that is not only interesting, but also very challenging  and through the lines to the script, I hear “Have you added Jesus into your life or have you submitted to him,” immediately my ear antennas stand up!

What does addition mean? The english dictionary puts it as ‘the action or process of adding something to something else, when you add 1 to 2, you will get 3. When you add onions, tomatoes, oil, and everything else you need to make your stew, then you will have a perfect stew. Our lives are different from mathematics and or every day cooking, because our lives are the real deal! You can play along with numbers, to get the perfect score, you can play around with different ingredients to get the perfect food that you want, all you have to do is mix different things and get a different result. We have different cook books from different authors from all over the world, and each of their methods are different, each of their ways are different, but one thing remains the same throughout all of them, and that is, they all have to add an ingredient. You can’t cook without the foodstuffs, you cannot do mathematics without numbers, I mean, you cannot calculate words now can we? As for me, I can’t get on with life without Jesus.

James tell us in chapter 4:7 to “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” When we submit to God, we are yielding to His power, and when we do this, even when the enemy tempts us, we will be able to resist all his evil plans and conquer them. However, when we don’t submit to God, when we don’t give Him complete control over our lives, then in reality what we are actually doing is, submitting to our own ways, which don’t have any powers over the enemy, and therefore submitting to the devil. When we don’t submit to God, we are submitting to someone else, we think its ourselves, but it isn’t. We are yielding to the prince of this age, we are submitting to the prince of this world. What we need to do is to take control of our lives, and how do we do that? by submitting to the power of the one and only true God, Jehovah. There is a name that has been given, the name that is above every other name, and that name is Jesus Christ, that at the mention of this name, every knee will bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory and Honour of God the Father.

Your friends might think your a fool, they might even call you names, people will say that your boring, you don’t know how to live and have fun. The Bible says in Matthew 5:11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice when this happens, great shall be your reward.

Don’t just add Jesus onto your life, instead submit to Him and let Him have complete rule over your life. His a good God, He’s a just God, He doesn’t disappoint, He’s all powerful, all knowing. Go ahead, today if you hear His Voice, do not harden your heart, let Him come in, because once He’s in, your life will never be the same again. He completes us, He’s the missing piece to your life’s puzzle.
