Security is the “state of being free from danger or threat.” Are we truly secure from all dangers and threats? Or are we living in fear? It’s election year in my beautiful country Kenya which has 42 tribes! Imagine that 42 different tribes all speaking different languages, with Swahili and English being the only common factor! However, the one thing that amazes me is that, once after every 5 years, we hate on each other just because of our tribes! We look at our neighbors and friends as enemies simply because we do not speak the same language, we do not support the same candidate from our clansmen. The internet is full of hate and malice while propaganda is the order of the day, each camp is mud sliding the other so that they may look ‘good,’ but hey its all politics and at the end of it all, you and me will still have a life to live after 8th of August won’t we? Leaders we so respect have disrespected each other by calling each other names that I can’t even utter but its we the voters who cheer them on as they speak, which leads us charged and full of hate for one another. Some leaders have being recorded making statements that for their ‘preferred candidate’ to win, blood has to be shed. Am sitting here wondering, why should we shed more blood, yet Jesus shed His own blood over 2000 years ago? Why should I rise against my neighbor when Christ calls me to love my neighbor? To be honest am perplexed by all this hate and drama going on and that is why I ask, are we truly secure?
Am a Christian and I am not ashamed to be called one, however, there are times I look at how my fellow ‘christians’ talk and behave and I am completely lost for words. Don’t get me wrong, not that am any ‘holier than thou,’ or am walking around flaunting that I am a better Christian than any one else, no. Am also not about to judge anyone, but guess what the Bible says, “Ye shall know them by their fruits” Matthew 7:16. So the big question is, am I producing good fruits or am I producing bad fruit? Enough about politics, lets talk about the real politics in our very own personal lives and what we need to ask ourselves is this, are you secure with where you are? do you know where your going? The blunt truth is this, when all is said and done it all comes down to the Good, which is Jesus Christ or the Bad, which is the devil. The destination for good is Heaven, while the destination for bad is hell, so where you headed to Heaven or hell?

Its times like these that we need to search ourselves, search our hearts and ask ourselves questions that only we can answer. I can lie to the whole world, I can live a life of hiding, but one thing is true for sure, I can’t lie to myself. The moment of truth is here with us, its coming faster and sooner than any of us is anticipating. However, am I secure that when I die and leave this earth I will go to Heaven and have Jesus meet me at Heaven’s gate leading me in? Or will it be a case of going down under to the bottomless pit where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth! I hate to burst anyones bubble, but thats a fact that none of us can avoid whatsoever.
Jesus is the security that we need, Jesus is the only person that can truly give us peace of mind for our families and our country. Do we call on Him? or do look at our lives and think that we can handle it all? Unless the Lord watches over a city, the watchman watches in vain. Everything that we do without involving God in it, is all in vain and comes crumbling down. Jesus is the strong foundation that we need, strong foundation that our nation should be built on, strong foundation that we should be built on. The Bible says in 2Chronicles 7:14 ‘If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Not only do we need to turn from our wicked ways as a nation, but as individuals.
When you are in Christ and walk by His Words, then you are truly secure in Him. The Bible tells us that we are new creatures, the old has gone and behold the new has come! What this means is that even if you were the worst person on the face of the earth, the minute you give your life to Christ, He completely transforms you into a new creature and doesn’t look at you with condemnation whatsoever.
Remember this; the world and all that is in it is passing by, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. Its your choice honestly, no one can or will force you, but remember this, “Jesus is coming soon,” and He better find you ready and take you home with Him.
You want security, find it in Jesus and only Him!!
