Hardball of Life

Sometimes, life hits you below the belt, leaving you breathless, anxious, and unsure of your next move. Your heart races and the future feels uncertain. From a human perspective, everything around you might seem dark and discouraging. People may say, “You’re strong; you’ll make it through,” but does that mean you shouldn’t cry or express your emotions? Does shedding tears equate to weakness? The truth is, even those who appear strong are often fragile inside. They might seem composed, but deep down, they are screaming for relief.

What happens when you’ve always been the pillar of strength for others but find yourself needing someone to lean on? How do you express vulnerability without feeling judged? Does asking for help make you weak? The reality is that life is a rollercoaster. One day, you’re smiling, and the next, you may be overwhelmed by tears. In moments of despair, remember this: when everything else falls apart, God remains steadfast. He is the unshakable cornerstone and pillar of strength we can always rely on.

A Testimony of God’s Faithfulness: I personally can confidently say, “If it were not for the Lord, I honestly don’t know where I would be.” I’ve faced battles that left me beaten, scarred, and utterly broken. There were times I felt exposed and vulnerable, crying out in desperation. Yet, somehow, I’ve found hope and a reason to smile. This peace and joy I feel can only come from God.  No human effort can bring about such restoration. Only God deserves the glory for the transformation He works in our lives. I may not fully understand His ways, but I know this: He’s got me, and that’s all that matters.

God’s Sovereign Plan: Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Nothing surprises God. He knows our struggles even before they arise. Because He holds our future, we can rest in His sovereignty, trusting that He will guide us through.

This world is not our home. As Jesus promised in John 14:3, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, that you also may be where I am.” One day, Jesus will return, and when He does, there will be no more pain, tears, or suffering. Everything will be made new, and we’ll be in His glorious presence forever.  But until that day, Jesus reminds us in John 16:33, “In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” These words, spoken by the Son of God, assure us that even in hardship, we can have peace.

Peace Beyond Understanding:  Trusting God doesn’t mean we always know what’s ahead, but it means we trust the One who does. His peace defies human understanding. Even when life feels overwhelming, His peace calms the storm within us.  This reminds me of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were thrown into the fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar. They refused to bow to an idol, even if it meant facing death. Their boldness and unwavering faith in God were remarkable. They knew their God was capable of saving them, but even if He didn’t, they wouldn’t compromise their faith.

As believers, we, too, face fiery trials when we stand firm in our faith. It may feel like the heat is unbearable, but know this: God has not abandoned you. He promises in Deuteronomy 31:8, “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Isaiah 43:19 beautifully assures us: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Even in desolation, God is at work, creating new paths and bringing forth life.

Growing Through Trials:  Every trial we face is part of God’s refining process. He prunes and shapes us, removing anything that doesn’t bring Him glory. While the process may be painful, we can trust that He is working all things for our good and His glory.  In John 14:27, Jesus promises, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” His peace is unlike anything the world offers. It sustains us even when circumstances seem dire.

Hold Onto Him: Therefore, no matter what life throws at you, trust in God. He will never fail you. He is weaving a beautiful story for your life, even if you don’t fully understand it now. One day, it will all make sense. One day, you’ll look back and see His hand in every detail. Until then, hold fast to His promises, knowing that His love for you knows no bounds.

Trust in Him. He is faithful.

God bless you! ❤️
