Take Off

By the grace of God and His provision over my life, I have been able to take a flight and travel. Well, not as much as I would have loved to 🤪 lol, but I am glad I have had the beautiful experience of seeing the world from above. For my first flight, I remember being told all the have’s and have nots when checking in and when the flight was taking off but somehow, I didn’t follow them through, because I had to leave my liquid lotion on the counter when I went for an international flight. I forgot to pack it in the check in luggage and plus I really didn’t think it was an issue, after all it was just lotion, right? Well shock on me as I also saw several other people leave their expensive perfumes and I consoled myself that mine was relatively cheap compared to theirs. Truth be told any flight to any destination is short compared to road travel, but the security checks in an airport before the travel are on another level and that’s because better and higher destinations come with a higher price to pay.

After all the security checks are done, its finally time to board the plane. It’s generally a smooth operation with everyone showing their ticket then being allowed to board the plane with the crew guiding them to their designated seats. You see, when you book a plane ticket, you must pay all the costs involved before so that when you come to board, you just show your pre-paid ticket and you’re good to go! This scenario is all too familiar with us when God is about to take you to another level. The security checks that you go through are all the trials and hardships you had to endure and now your ticket is ready for your next assignment and destination with your name on it.

Your now in the plane all buckled up and ready to go and the flight attendants will make sure that everyone else on the plane has sat at their designated seats, lock the door to the plane and make sure that all the indoor luggage cabinets are all locked safely. Next, they will take you through the safety procedures in case of an accident, showing you all the exits and then they will take their seats. The most interesting thing about God is that He elevates us at different levels and different times in our lives. It’s not a case of one size fits all kind of blessing, but it’s designed to fit the many different people He is elevating each according to their ability.

Minutes later the plane will start moving to go to the runway, and here, you will barely feel a thing, however when it reaches the runway and given clearance by the traffic controllers, then it’s all systems go there’s no turning back. The pilot will start accelerating the plane to full power & speed and after the plane reaches maximum speed, it will take off into the air. While all this is happening, the passengers inside the flight will feel the movements and atmospheric pressure building up. For some people they will feel nauseous, for others their ears will block and still for others, it will be the turbulence that comes with the take-off that irritates them – indeed we are all built differently.

This description of the plane before and after take-off is exactly what happens in our lives when God wants to take you to another level, He will take you through a process. He will make you get out of your comfort zone; He will remove some of the people in your life and it might get very lonely and for most of us, we will start asking Him many questions of why all this is happening instead of working with Him to see all the beauty that He is making you into.

Yes, you applied for that job, and you were called to go for an interview, but you didn’t get it and you ask God why? It’s because He has a much bigger and better job for you. He knows your true potential and that’s because He created you and placed inside you all these amazing gifts and talents and He wants you to maximize on them. However, He also knows before He opens this big door for you, He must prepare you so that you are well equipped for your next assignment. All the interviews you went through were not in vain, they taught you where you went wrong and prepared you for the next one. With time you improved, became more self-aware and now here you are, on a plane onto your next destination and assignment. Indeed, we serve a Faithful God.

The God school of life has taught me a lot about His personality and one of them is that God will not give you something when He knows you’re not ready to handle it. Why might you ask? It’s because when we are not well equipped for anything, we will sabotage and butcher the gift. Take for example, no parent in their right mind will give a car to their 5-year-old, they will wait until their child is mature enough to handle the gift – it’s the same and even better with God. He builds you to become a more responsible Christian who will take care & grow what God has given him. Next, He will most definitely eliminate the crowd around you and all your left with is your faith and dependance on Him. Jesus often moved away from the crowds and went aside to pray and seek the face of His Father – Luke 5:15-16 “but despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of His power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear Him preach and to be healed of their diseases. But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.”

I now understand why God moves us away from the crowds and that’s because He wants us to focus on Him, hear His voice more clearly, rely and depend on Him instead of our own strength or other people around us. Relinquishing our power and control and handing it over to Him means we Trust in He who knows our tomorrow and future. When you get to this phase, you no longer check in with your friends first, but you check with your Heavenly Father – your focus has shifted to better things. The opposite is also true, we delay our miracles and  opportunities when we disobey, grumble and refuse to let go of what He has told us to release. A good example of disobedience and grumbling is the children of Israel who wandered in the desert for 40 years, yet their promised land was just a 11-day journey.

Your faith in God is your free elevation ticket to your open doors and destination. You didn’t buy it with any money, but you learned to depend on God and your faith in Him grew stronger and stronger as the days passed by. Here you are now, about to fly into your new assignment and God is shaking things up and there’s turbulence in your life just as if you were in a plane. For some of us, the turbulence in your life will make you lose faith and want to alight or quit everything. You get so tired of the constant instability in your life, yet you have no idea that the instability is just preparing you for greatness. You have no idea just how close you are to your miracle, and you give up when your journey matters the most – at the take-off.

For other people, the turbulence and shaking in your life will make you lose faith in God, and you will focus on the pain/hardship, and you lose sight on what God is doing in you, preparing and building your character. Do not get distracted on the turbulence and noise around you, instead allow your mind to shift its focus on God who is bigger than anything that is around you. Trust the process.

For the few who will hold on while all the noise and turbulence is going on around you, soon you will reach a high altitude and you will be flying into your much awaited miracle. Now you realize that things are easing off, the pain or hardships and you can now walk around, use the bathroom and seat comfortably as The Pilot of your life (God) flies you to your destination. Your trust and faith are in He who knows and sees your tomorrow and as Paul writes in 2Corinthians 5:7 “for we live by faith, not by sight.”

After the long flight depending on your journey because each of us has a different one, it will reach a time to descend and land and because God is the best pilot you will ever have, He will give you the best, smooth landing descent to your destination. Your now all set, well-equipped and ready to work. Keep in mind that it is God who promotes us at the timing that He sees is right. He has a plan that is so perfect for you, therefore don’t get impatient, don’t complain & grumble but trust in His judgement.

Life is full of opportunities for us to grow and we see this in the different seasons that we go through. My Bishop Masinde always says, your either preparing to go through a storm or you’re in a storm, or your out of a storm – and this cycle continues throughout our lives.

Therefore, any time you go through life’s exams in the form of trials, hardships and storms, don’t despair, don’t lose hope, instead look at it as an opportunity to grow and learn what God has in store for you. The Bible reminds us in 1st Corinthians 2:9 (NLV) “no eye has ever seen, or no ear has ever heard, or no mind has ever thought of the wonderful things God has made ready for those who love Him.” I recently read a statement that said, “if God put a Goliath in front of you, it’s because He put a David inside of you,” you will overcome and defeat what stands in front of you for you are of God, “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” 1John 4:4. And in the words written in Revelation 12:11 AMP “And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death.”

It’s time to take off into your next assignment, trust God!!

God bless!!
