Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. From Heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth – he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.
As I was reading this scripture I remembered the movie ‘god’s of Egypt,’ which I watched sometime back, when I watched this movie, it showed how the Egyptians had many god’s and how they believed that when they died, and had to face judgment, one had to offer gold and all sorts of jewellery and precious stones for them to enter eternity. The gold was placed on a weighing scale, if it was heavy enough to outweigh a feather, then its a pass and that ment that all the rich (even if they were immoral on earth) had a direct pass to eternal glory, while the poor who had nothing to offer, were to face eternal condemnation as evil spirits. Yet the poor worked hard and tirelessly for the rich and for the god’s but still, only gold and precious jewels was the only pass. Can you imagine if this was the case with our God? Can you imagine if all you ever had to give to enter Heaven was riches? how immorally wrong is that? Eternal Glory has nothing close to what we see here on earth, nothing! Our strength cannot save us, nor can our riches, or all the titles we acquire here on earth! Infact I think the Lord looks at the people who think they have it all and sympathises with them. He sees a people getting lost by the day, a people that He so loves, a people that He died for! Nations that have rejected him, nations that don’t want anything to do with him! all because they think they have it all! oh how sad.
God saw the end from the beginning, he is the greatest master planner this world has ever seen and when He saw that the world needed redemption, He sent His one and only SON Jesus Christ to come and die for us so that we can get a direct pass through to Heaven, and this entry is only through Jesus, no one else, nothing else.
Jehovah is a JUST God, He doesn’t bless Christians only, but also blesses the non Christians, each according to how he has worked hard. If God were to bless only those who serve him, then our world would only have few successful people, but thank God that His words, remain the same and His Laws apply to all, be it for Muslims, Buddhists or even Atheists. When He asks us to give to the poor, and we do, he will bless all, irregardless of religion, Infact when you look at how people give, we see the Hindus give more to charity more than the rest, the muslims will give for mosques to be built more than christians will give for a church to be built, such is the truth!! 2Corinthians 9:7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. The hope that we have is this, even though we live in a world that is full of all sorts of injustice going on, the eyes of our Lord see it all, He will keep us alive in famine (the tough times) and deliver us from eternal death (salvation) through Jesus Christ our Lord.
