Give God something to work with

So am having a conversation with my son and he tells me he wants to pray to God to help him in his upcoming end year exams. I told him that’s a very good thing to pray about, but then I asked him, what he was doing as he waits on God’s help, and he goes, “mum as in what?” and I tell him, even if you pray to God and you don’t read, will you pass for your exams, and he says “no.” I told Him, God will always do His part, but we also need to do our part, and for him, he needs to read and prepare himself for the exams.

After I dropped him off to school, I started thinking to myself, do I give God something to work with? or do I just assume that because He is God, then He will do things the way I want Him to. What have I given God to work with? Have I given God my faith, hope and uttermost complete trust in Him? or have I asked Him for stuff but at the back of my mind I am a doubting Thomas! Doubt brings about fear and fear is not from God. Fear derails, fear consumes, and can make you powerless, fear is from the devil. Every time that we cloud our minds and our thoughts with fear, mistrust and doubt, then we close the windows of Heaven. There is one currency that Heaven operates in and that is the currency of FAITH, we have to believe that it will happen, though sometimes faith is the toughest thing to have especially when things around you are getting tough. However, even in the midst of the storm, we still need to give God something to work with, and that is our Hope and our Faith in Him.

Hebrews 11:1 Now Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:6 Without faith, it is impossible to please God. 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. One thing that I have seen with God is that, every time that I asked Him to do something for me, I had to let it all go completely to Him and have Faith that He will accomplish it. However, every time that I have tried to “help” God, it didn’t work to my advantage, infact it backfired big time! The only thing that God needs from me and all of us is Faith in Him, the rest He will handle it at His time which is always the best timing.

My Bishop on Sunday preached on the story found in Matthew 7:25 the wise and foolish builders, one built his house on the rock and the other on sand, when the rains came down, the foolish mans house came tumbling down, while the house for the wise man stood firm. Three things in life that we are guaranteed of are; Success, Trials and Temptations however, can God trust you with success? will you endure the trials? No situation in our life is permanent, no season will last a lifetime, but when success comes, will you be able to handle it? or will you no longer want anything to do with God. And you know what, God knows all our hearts, He knows what we can and cannot handle, but He’s still a Faithful God, He will open the windows of Heaven and bless us all.

The Lord asked Moses in Exodus 4:2 “What is that in your hand?” Moses had a staff, and with that, He used to perform miracles. Today God is asking us the same thing, “what is in your hand? what can you give God to work with? Whatever we give God, He will multiply it. Sometimes we look down upon ourselves, maybe because what we have is less than what the rest have, but what God needs from us is just but a sincere heart. Sincerity, letting Him know that this is what I have, it could even be all you have, but you have trusted Him enough to bring it to HIm. He will not disappoint, though it may tarry, wait for it

Today no matter what you are going through, give God something to work with, give Him your hope, give Him your faith. Serve Him even when it doesn’t make sense.

Blessings!!
